Protection

Ultraviolet (UV) rays are invisible radiation. They can penetrate the skin and damage cells. A sunburn is a sign of skin damage. A tan is not healthy. It appears after sun rays have already killed some cells and damaged others. UV rays can cause skin damage during any season and at any temperature. They can also cause eye problems, provoke wrinkles, age spots and skin cancer.

To protect yourself:

  • Stay out of the sun between Noon and 4 pm.
  • Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or more.
  • Protect your skin with clothing.
  • Wear sunglasses with 100% protection against UV rays.
  • Avoid sunlamps and tanning salons.
