Breast implants are internal or external prostheses to be used following a mastectomy or lumpectomy (partial mastectomy, in which the amount of tissue removed can vary greatly).
A breast prosthesis gives back the feeling of having a natural breast. There are several types:
- Postoperative breast implants made of lightweight foam.
- Mastectomy prostheses (silicone).
- Partial prosthesis (lumpectomy).
- Breast prostheses for swimming.
- Prostheses for resting.
