Mycosis

Causes

Usually, vaginal mycosis is caused by a fungus called Candida albicans (vaginal candidiasis). The Candida albicans is a common type of fungus often present in small amounts in the vagina, mouth, digestive tract and skin. Usually it does not cause illness. The vaginal yeast infection is the most common type of vaginal infection.

Candida and many other germs and microorganisms that normally live in the vagina keep each other in balance, however, when the vagina has certain favourable conditions, the number of Candida albicans increases, manifesting candidiasis.
